Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Mockingbird ("the App") is a personal songwriting and note-taking tool that is designed to store your creative ideas. We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about how your information is stored and used.
2. Information We Collect
Mockingbird collects only the information necessary for the App to function.
2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
By default, all of the following data is stored only on your device:
- Audio recordings you create
- Text notes
- Project titles and metadata
- App settings and preferences
Mockingbird does not upload this data anywhere unless you enable cloud sync.
2.2 Optional Cloud Sync (User-Enabled)
If you choose to enable cloud sync, the following information is securely transmitted and stored using our third-party backend provider Supabase:
- Projects, recordings metadata, and text notes
- Audio files
- Basic account information provided by your sign-in method (email or OAuth identity)
You may disable cloud sync at any time.
2.3 Usage and Diagnostic Data
We may collect basic, anonymous information such as:
- App version
- Crash logs
- Feature usage patterns
This information is used only to improve the App and does not contain personal data or the contents of your recordings or notes.
3. How Your Data Is Used
We use your information only to:
- Store your recordings and notes
- Sync your content across devices (if enabled)
- Operate and improve Mockingbird
We do not:
- Sell your data
- Share your recordings or notes with advertisers
- Train AI models on your personal content without explicit permission
4. Third-Party Services
If you enable cloud sync, your synced data is processed and stored by:
- Supabase, a secure backend platform providing user authentication, database, and file storage
Supabase operates under strict data protection and encryption controls. You can review their policies at https://supabase.com/privacy
If you choose to export your data, you may use services such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. Those services are governed by their own privacy policies.
5. Your Choices & Controls
5.1 Cloud Sync
- OFF (default): All data remains on your device
- ON: Data syncs between devices you own
5.2 Export Your Data
At any time, you may export your recordings, notes, and metadata as a portable ZIP file stored wherever you choose.
5.3 Delete Account / Delete Data
You may request deletion of your cloud-synced data from within the App. When confirmed:
- Your cloud data (including audio, projects, and notes) will be permanently removed from Supabase
- Local copies stored on your device will be deleted as part of the process
You may optionally export your data before deleting your account.
5.4 Delete Local-Only Data
If you are not using cloud sync, deleting the App may remove your local data. You are responsible for exporting your ideas if you wish to retain them.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data within our control, including:
- Encrypted communication (HTTPS/TLS)
- Supabase-managed database and storage security
- Local device protections provided by your operating system
However, no system is 100% free from risk. You are encouraged to:
- Enable cloud sync if you want multi-device access
- Export your data periodically if relying on local storage
7. Children's Privacy
Mockingbird is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children without parental consent.
8. International Users
Data stored in the cloud (if enabled) may be processed in the United States or other regions supported by our backend provider.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes materially affect how your data is handled, we will notify you in the App.
